GENERAL INFORMATION:

 HPK Deckers and Old Dominion Terriers was born out of necessity.  We relocated to a small rural farm in Idaho and needed a good “mouser” to keep our rodent numbers in check.  We were in search of the perfect hunting terrier.  After thorough research on different breeds and breeders, we committed to the Decker/Old Dominion Terrier. We have been training elite bird dogs for over 30 years and appreciate a well bred dog.  That led us to BriarBey Decker and Old Dominion Terriers.  This breeder had the look, lineage, and track record that we were looking for.  That was the beginning of our passion for this amazing breed.  It is not a stretch to label these k-9s as “the perfect dog”.  They are incredible athletes, have superior intelligence, are loyal and loving, and can be both a worker and a companion.  They trace back to the original cross of Fox terrier, Pit Bull, Whippets, Beagles and Basenji.  This breed was originally created for hunting but because of their on-off switch and their strong connection to “their person” they would also be well suited as a loving companion and family dog.  They have successfully been used to hunt wild boar, shed hunt as well as rodent control.  They are medium sized (30-40 lbs) that thinks and acts like they are big dogs.  Our dogs are proven hunters and loyal family members and we are proud of their success, lineage, look and temperament.
